Bandrika is a studio that embraces the warmth, romance and heritage of Hollywood's past while leveraging the most advanced, state-of-the-art technology in recording today. From our beloved 1928 Barr-Fox Wurlitzer organ that once graced Fox Studios in Hollywood's golden age, to the control room's 20 ft velvet sofa and an innovative, Pro Tools HDX-powered recording system, this is a one-of-a-kind space.
Every inch of the studio is built with obsessive attention to detail. No element has been overlooked.
There's a reason it took four years to build Bandrika Studios. We weren't satisfied until every square inch met the highest acoustic standards.
Hailed by legendary scoring mixer Peter Cobbin as "The best room of its size in the world to record in right now," Bandrika is the product of years of devotion and obsessive attention to detail. The result is a room whose sound is so pure, and so unique, it yields a transcendent sonic experience you won't find anywhere else.
The vision of renowned and celebrated film and television composer Nathan Barr, Bandrika takes its inspiration from the legacy and romance of Hollywood's Golden Age and keeps it alive by leveraging the most advanced technology and equipment available to the modern musician and engineer. All happily removed from the chaos of LA and ensconced in a warm, inspiring cocoon to set your creativity free.
A crucial element of any studio session is what instruments you'll have access to. Want a full list of Bandrika's musical arsenal?
Bandrika's focus on inspiration, innovation, and sonic purity requires a unique and detailed approach to the technical process of recording. A true creative environment, the control room is centered not around a large recording console — rather, an expansive, open producer's desk and a multichannel Bowers And Wilkins monitoring system. Running effortlessly in the background is a matrix of digitally-connected Pro Tools systems capable of recording, mixing, and monitoring everything from the smallest independent projects to large format film scores.
The result is a room that allows engineers, producers, musicians and composers to achieve musical visions quickly, efficiently and free of technical worry. Using HDX technology on all of our Pro Tools rigs — with clocking by Antelope Audio — ensures that recordings at Bandrika make it to the computer with no quality loss or discernible latency for performers or listeners.
Owned by a composer. Operated by musicians. We understand that comfort and freedom to experiment are of the utmost importance to the creative process. We pride ourselves on making the studio feel like home to our clients, and go the extra mile to ensure a warm and inviting environment for everyone.
With a large control room and luxurious upstairs lounge, there is plenty of space to spread out and set up in a way that works for your creative process. Between the large viewing window in the lounge to the stage below, and full audio and video playback throughout the building, everybody will feel tuned into the session, no matter where they are.
